How I Styled: Winter Brunch

To welcome in the New Year, I went out to brunch with my best friend, wearing some of my favorite new additions to my wardrobe out. During a particularly difficult time for me in 2018, I found myself online shopping which drew me to three pieces of this outfit: the jacket, top and trousers. Naturally, the consumer in me (in most of us) thought to fill the void I was feeling at the time with things (which I know isn’t healthy, but that’s a discussion for more of a think piece lol)—but, this time around, when the items came in the mail, I didn’t regret the purchases at all! All of the pieces worked together well as a cohesive outfit, paired with accessories I already had in my wardrobe.

For the winter, outerwear is typically a dark or neutral color, but it was fun to switch it up with this Missguided jacket that caught my eye during a sale. I see myself grabbing for it serval times this season. (It feels like I’m wearing an actual blanket out and about—I couldn’t be more thankful for the faux shearling trend.) Whether I was conditioned to as a young girl or not, pink is a color I have always gravitated towards. Something I’m working on for my style choices this year is slowly incorporating more colors into my outfits, which is great to do with a layering piece that I can chuck off at anytime if I’m “not feeling it” anymore. But I was LOVING this jacket this day. It was actually even a little warm out for a heavy jacket—in Winter! But that’s Kansas for you.

Even though I am a firm believer in the concept that what you wear puts you in a great mood, it probably helped that I was with a great person! Be watchful of the company you keep in 2019. Protect your energy and put yourself out there—and always go for a good pink faux shearling jacket.
