Photography Fun: Playing with Gels

Hey, guys! I’m taking a photography class this semester and wanted to share some shots from a lighting assignment here. I usually don’t do shoots of myself by myself, but I had to for this assignment. The following shots were made using artificial lighting, gels, and a tripod. Knowing I would be playing with lighting, I bought a sequin dress that would reflect the light from my local Salvation Army. It was $8.99 and fit like a glove! I put on some makeup and face glitter and was off to live my best 80’s fantasy.

Now, enjoy me channeling the energy of every edgy musical theatre character I could possibly muster up, e.g. Mimi Marquez from RENT, Magenta from Rocky Horror, Whatsername from American Idiot, Hedwig from Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and so on and so on… lol. (If musical-inspired photoshoots are your thing, check out another color photography photo series I did back in March.)
