Easy DIY Hot Chocolate Charcuterie Board
This year, I discovered a new favorite holiday tradition: holiday charcuterie boards! Arranging this hot chocolate charcuterie board was one of the few activities this particular Christmas season that made me feel super, well, “Chistmasy!”
Creating a holiday charcuterie board is like an “aged up” version of another holiday favorite — gingerbread houses! Read until the end for how to DIY your own hot chocolate charcuterie board.
First off, you’ll need a charcuterie board! I got mine from Crate&Barrel, but a board from anywhere will do! Target has some cute, more affordable options. You could even use a tray from, say, the dollar store or on a dish you already have.
For the cocoa mugs, I used double walled insulated mugs. I ordered mine online, and I would say the mugs are worth it! Double walled mugs keep my warm drinks warmer longer and my cool drinks cooler longer. However, using a holiday mug would be cute too.
The most time-consuming part of crafting a charcuterie board is purchasing your ingredients. Be sure you find exactly what will make your board shine in its own unique way to save multiple trips to the grocery store. I ended up visiting four different stores which made the shopping feel like a scavenger hunt — which, to me, is the fun part! I picked up the following:
Ingredients
Marshmallows
Mini marshmallows
Chocolate chips
Chocolate Santa cocoa stirrers
Peppermint cocoa stirrers
Peppermint snap cookies
Mini candy canes
Gingerbread people
Pirouline rolled wafers
Mini Christmas trees from the craft store added a bright green touch to break up the red, white, and brown colors to keep the board interesting. These mini trees were actually the first items I purchased for inspiration for my board, however, the last to go on! (Optional, but a cute touch.)
My favorite thing about charcuterie boards is there is no “right” way to make one. Swapping out and switching up ingredients can instantly breathe new life into your same trusty board from the cupboard. Now, what are you waiting for? Get to “charcuterie-ing!” Let’s add some cheer to the end of the year.
Happy Holidays!
